Who is Kate Gosselin?

Kate Gosselin is a reality TV star by profession and American by nationality. She is well known for starring in Jon & Kate Plus 8, and Kate Plus Date and is the mother of sextuplets and twins Cara Nicole Gosselin and Madelyn Kate Gosselin.

Kate Gosselin – Bio, Age, Parents, Siblings

Kate Gosselin’s birth took place on March 28, 1975, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. She was born Katie Irene Kreider to her mother Charlene Kreider and her father Kenton Kreider, a pastor.

She is not the only child of her parents and has four siblings, among which she is the third. Her sisters are named Kendra, Christen, and Clarissa, and her brother is named Kevin.

Education, Ethnicity

After completing high school, Kate Gosselin went on to study at Reading Hospital School Of Health Sciences. She became a registered nurse after completing a diploma program there and then worked as a labor and delivery nurse.

Her ethnicity includes Scottish, English, and German.

Kate Gosselin – Boyfriend, Husband, Children, Divorce

Kate Gosselin met Jon Gosselin at a company picnic on October 5, 1997. After almost a year of dating, she married her boyfriend on June 12, 1999. She and her husband welcomed twin daughters Cara Nicole Gosselin and Madelyn Kate Gosselin on October 8, 2000, and were premature at 35 weeks gestation.

Their dreams of having another child were hindered when Kate Gosselin was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, which left her unable to conceive naturally. So the couple went through fertility treatments. 

Their sextuplets- sons Aaden Jonathan Gosselin, Collin Thomas Gosselin, and Joel Kevin Gosselin, and daughters Alexis Faith Gosselin, Hannah Joy Gosselin, and Leah Hope Gosselin were born on May 10, 2004, 10 weeks premature.

But the couple separated and bitterly divorced in December 2009. The primary custody of all the children was granted to Kate Gosselin and Jon signed a 10-year gag contract.

However, in December 2019 their son, Collin’s custody was awarded to Jon while daughter Hannah’s custody was handed over to Jon in April 2018, and also been living with Jon for years prior to the controversial accusations.

Kate Gosselin – Career

Reality-TV

Following the birth of sextuplets, the Gosselin family was featured in the NBC reality TV show Home Delivery. They then went on to star in Discovery Health’s show Surviving Sextuplets and Twins. A Year in 2005 and Sextuplets and Twins: One Year Later in 2006.

Kate Gosselin and the family’s big break came in 2007 when they were cast in the reality TV series, documented their lives, Jon & Kate Plus 8. 

However, on June 22, 2009 episode Jon and Kate announced their separation, and in later interviews, they informed that the show would continue. But TLC announced on June 23, 2009, that the show would be placed on a hiatus immediately.

Since then Kate Gosselin has starred in Kate Plus 8 and Kate Plus Date (2019). Moreover, she has starred in numerous shows including Say Yes to the Dress (2008), Dancing with the Stars (2010), Celebrity Wife Swap (2013), Kate Plus Eight: Sextuplets Turn 10 (2014), The Apprentice (2014).

Books

In addition to being a reality TV star, Kate Gosselin is also an author. Her first book titled Multiple Blessings, written with Jon Gosselin and Beth Carson was published in November 2008. This was followed by her books Eight Little Faces (April 2009), I Just Want You to Know (April 13, 2010), Love Is in the Mix (September 4, 2013), etc.

Kate Gosselin – Controversy

Since their divorce, they have been very vocal and public about their marriage, blaming and accusing one another along the way.

There have been a lot of controversies when it comes to Jon, Hannah, and Collin Gosselin. In August 2016 she announced that she had enrolled Collin in a program to help him with his "special needs". 

And on October 24, 2018, Jon and his attorney fought for physical and legal custody of Collin. In December 2018 Jon won the sole custody of Collin as Kate and her attorney failed to show up. The same month Collin was released from the center and has been living with Jon.

Jon claimed in interviews that Kate had sent their son Collin, without his knowledge, to a special needs institution in Philadelphia for three years but had never been diagnosed with any medical conditions other than common ADHD.

He also accused her of mentally abusing and alienating their daughter Hannah Gosselin. Hannah had been living with Jon and had won custody of her in April 2018. And in August 2019 it was revealed that Kate Gosselin is not trying to win back custody of Hannah and Collin and has made no efforts to speak with or see Collin.

However, in mid-2020 Collin made shocking allegations against his father calling him a "liar". He also alleged that his father physically abused him.
