He was raised by his grandparents in Harvey, Illinois till the age of 12 alongside his two siblings- older brother Shaunn Hawkins and younger brother La'Mar "The SupaStar" Hawkins.

He accomplished much with the team- won Illinois High School Association's Original Comedy event’s state title in the year 2005, won the state title in Humorous Duet Acting, placed fourth at state that year in Original Comedy and third at the IHSA state competition in Humorous Interpretation.

He also went to Illinois State University on a full-tuition scholastic scholarship and majored in theatre arts there. He graduated in 2012 and was a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

This was followed by minor roles in the films The Express (2008), Detroit 1-8-7 (2011), Canal Street (2018), etc and TV series Ballers (2015), Boyband (2016), Special Skills (2017), Chicago Justice (2017), among others.

Finally, in 2013 LaRoyce Hawkins was cast as Kevin Atwater in the TV series Chicago Fire. He portrayed the role until 2021 and is considered his breakthrough in Hollywood.

Since then, LaRoyce Hawkins has reprised his role as Officer Kevin Atwater in the TV series Chicago Med (2019-201), Chicago P.D. (2014-2022), and played the character Michael 'Shaw' Owens / Shaw in the TV series South Side.
