Who is Meghan McCain?

Meghan McCain is a columnist, author, and TV host by profession and American by nationality. She is best known as an ABC News contributor and a co-host of The View.

Meghan McCain’s birth took place on October 23, 1984, in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. She was born Meghan Marguerite McCain to mother Cindy McCain and father John McCain, who was a 2008 presidential candidate and late U.S. senator.

She is not the only child of her parents and is the oldest among three siblings- brothers James McCain, and John Sidney McCain IV, and adopted sister Bridget McCain, a Bangladeshi orphan who the family had adopted at three months old. From her father’s first marriage, she has a half-sister named Sidney McCain and two step-siblings.

Meghan McCain was educated at the Phoenix Country Day School and Xavier College Preparatory. She later attended Columbia University where she earned a bachelor's degree in art history.

McCain got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Ben Domenech, who is a conservative writer and commentator. They had met on Twitter. The couple married on November 21, 2017, and the wedding was held at her family ranch in Sedona, Arizona.

In March 2020 she revealed that she was pregnant with her first child after suffering a miscarriage. She and her husband welcomed their first child- a daughter named Liberty Sage Domenech on Sept. 28, 2020. They are happy together without any rumors of extra-marital affairs or divorce.

Talk show host

Soon after graduation, McCain interned at Newsweek and Saturday Night Live as she had planned to become a music journalist. Meghan McCain has hosted talk show Raising McCain (September 2013 – January 2014), TakePart Live (May 2014- December 2014),  America Now (2015 - 2017), and Outnumbered (2016-2017).

She joined FOX News as a contributor in July 2015 and was selected as the co-host of The View on October 9, 2017. She currently hosts the show with Abby Huntsman, Ana Navarro, and Sunny Hostin.

In politics

Meghan McCain politically identifies as a Republican and agrees with global warming, and stem-cell research supports environmentalist legislation and favors pro-life, sex education,  gay rights,  same-sex marriage, gay adoption, and birth control.

Her books include Dirty Sexy Politics (2010), My Dad, John McCain (2008), and 2012’s America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom, co-written with  Michael Ian Black.
