Merritt Wever’s birth took place on August 11, 1980, in Manhattan, New York City, USA. She was born as Merritt Carmen Wever to mother Georgia Wever and was conceived via a sperm donor. She was raised as an only child by her single mother to be politically progressive.

For education, Merritt Wever studied and graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and went on to study at Sarah Lawrence College. She later trained in acting in New York.
