Millicent Simmonds’ birth took place on March 1, 2003, in the USA. She was born to her mother Emily Simmonds while the name of her father is not shared with the public, although she loves to feature on her social media. 

She is not the only child of her parents and has four siblings, two older siblings (1 brother) and two younger sisters.

Hearing loss

Simmonds was just 12 months old when she lost hearing due to a medication overdose. So her mother learned American Sign Language and taught the whole family sign language.

At the age of 3, she started attending Jean Massieu School of the Deaf where she joined its drama club. In 2015 Millicent Simmonds enrolled at Mueller Park Junior High School.

Simmonds showed a passion for acting at a very young age. Before landing her breakthrough role, she participated in school plays. She had performed at the Utah Shakespeare Festival and was in a deaf student's short film Color the World.

Millicent Simmonds auditioned for a role in the film Wonderstruck and landed the role of Rose, beating over 250 others. She was recognized as one of eight actors who were Breakthrough Entertainers of 2017 by The Associated Press.

Since her breakthrough role, Millicent Simmonds has portrayed the role of Regan Abbott in A Quiet Place (2018) and Quiet Place: Part II (2020). Moreover, she has also starred in episodes of the TV series Andi Mack (2018-2019), This Close (2019), and in the music video Wanted a Name by pop duo Frenship.
