Nazneen Contractor is an actress by profession and Canadian by nationality. The Indian-born actress is well known for starring in CBC's The Border as Layla Hourani and in 24 as Kayla Hassan.

Nazneen Contractor – Age, Parents, Siblings

Nazneen Contractor’s birth took place on August 26, 1982, in Bombay, Maharashtra, India. She was born to her mother Yasmin Contractor while the identity of her father, who passed away in 2011, is not known. Her parents are of Parsi descent. She also has a sibling, an older brother. 

She and her family moved to Nigeria where she was raised until 7 years old. As the family traveled a lot, they also briefly lived in London, finally settling in Toronto, Canada when she was 10 where she was raised into adulthood.

Education, Ethnicity

For education, Nazneen Contractor attended Etobicoke School of the Arts and the University of Toronto where she pursued a master's in theatre and a double major in psychology and sociology on a full scholarship. But after a year, she dropped out after going to an open audition for the world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival where she was offered the opportunity to enroll in Stratford's conservatory program, Birmingham Conservatory. 

Her ethnicity is Parsi, an ethnoreligious group who had migrated to the Indian subcontinent from Persia during the Muslim conquest of Persia.

Nazneen Contractor – Boyfriend, Husband, Children, Divorce

Nazneen Contractor married her longtime boyfriend Carlo Rota, an English actor, on April 1, 2010. The couple had first met in 2001. With her husband, she has two children – an older son Darius Rota, and a daughter Avalucia born in 2017.

Currently, the couple is living a blissful marriage. There are no rumors of extra-marital affairs and divorce surrounding their marriage.

Nazneen Contractor – Career

Early Days

Growing up Contractor was trained in classical ballerina. But at the age of 16, she decided that she wanted to become an actress. After three seasons with Stratford's conservatory program, she pursued a career in TV and film. Finally, in 2008 she was cast as Layla Hourani in the series The Border. She portrayed the character until 2009 and is her breakthrough role.

Over the years Nazneen Contractor has had appearances in the TV series Rules of Engagement (2010), 24 (2010), Revenge (2013-2014), Castle (2015), Chicago P.D. (2016), Hawaii Five-0 (2018), Star Wars Resistance (2018-2020), etc. She has also starred in the films Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), Roman J. Israel, Esq. (2017), the horror film Spiral (2021), etc.
