Ricky Schroder is an actor, film director by profession, and American by nationality. He is best known for his roles in The Champ, Silver Spoons, Lonesome Dove, and NYPD Blue.

Ricky Schroder’s birth took place on April 13, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. He was born Richard Bartlett Schroder to his mother Diane Schroder and his father Richard Schroder Sr., both former employees of AT&T.
He is not the only child of his parents and has a sibling, an older sister named Dawn Gregg, who is now married to Bradley Gregg.

Ricky Schroder married his longtime girlfriend Andrea Schroder on 26 September 1992. He and his wife have welcomed four children together. Their son Holden Richard Schroder was born on January 8, 1992, followed by the birth of their son Luke William Schroder on August 1, 1993.
The couple’s third child, daughter Cambrie Schroder was born on September 14, 1997, while their fourth child, also a daughter Faith Anne Schroder was born on August 8, 2001.

After years almost 24 years of marriage, Andrea filed for divorce in October 2016. As of 2023, their divorce might be ongoing as there have been no updates since 2019.
On May 2, 2019, Schroder was arrested on the charge of domestic violence and was held on $50,000 bail. This is his second arrest in the last 30 days on domestic violence charge with the same girlfriend.

Before fame
Schroder started his career young and his mother used to take him to photoshoots when he was just three months old. As a child, he had appeared in many catalogs and by the age of six, Ricky Schroder had appeared in 60 advertisements.
He soon went on to become a child star. In 1979, he was cast in The Champ as the son of Jon Voight's character. This role gave him immediate fame and a series of TV and film roles followed him.

Worked in
After starring in The Champ, he and his mother moved to Los Angeles where he appeared in The Last Flight of Noah's Ark. This was followed by roles in films The Earthling (1980), Little Lord Fauntleroy (1980), and in the TV series Silver Spoons (1982-1987), Too Young the Hero (1988).
In his adult years, Schroder struggled to land mature roles. Through his struggles, he dropped the “y” from his name and also starred in TV series My Son Johnny (1991), Return to Lonesome Dove (1993), NYPD Blue (1992-2001), Scrubs (2003), 24 (2007), Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors (2015, 2016).
He also starred in the films Across the Tracks (1991), Crimson Tide (1995), Poolhall Junkies (2002), Locker 13 (2009), and Get Him to the Greek (2010).
As a director, he directed the film Black Cloud, Hellhounds, and the music video for the song Whiskey Lullaby. He also has a production company, Ricky Schroder Productions which has been producing a TV show for the US army Starting Strong since 2013.
