Who is Rui Hachimura?
Rui Hachimura is a rising basketball player by profession and Japanese by nationality. He plays for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA), having played for Gonzaga Bulldogs, and is a member of the Japanese national team.
Rui Hachimura – Bio, Age, Parents, Siblings
Rui Hachimura’s birth took place on February 8, 1998, in Toyama, Japan. His mother Makiko Hachimura is of Japanese descent while his father Zakari Hachimura is of Beninese descent.
He is not the only child of his parents and has three younger siblings – brother Allen Hachimura and two sisters, among which one is named Amina Hachimura. All were raised in Sendai, Japan. Allen is also a basketball player at Tokai University in Japan.

For education, he attended Meisei High School. After graduation, he joined Gonzaga University in 2016, graduating in 2019. His ethnicity includes Beninese and Japanese.

Hachimura is currently completely focused on his career. With the move to the US and draft to the NBA, he has little free time on his hands. However, a secret girlfriend or an affair cannot be ruled out.

Early days
Hachimura used to play baseball as a catcher and pitcher when he was young. In high school he led his team to its second title in the All-Japan High School Tournament, scoring 32 points in a 92–78 win over Fukuoka University Ohori and again in 2014.
In April 2015, he was invited to Jordan Brand Classic. On November 21, 2015, Rui Hachimura signed a National Letter of Intent with Gonzaga Bulldogs in the USA to play college basketball. But language and cultural barriers required him to attend a prep school before entering Gonzaga.

With Gonzaga Bulldogs
Rui Hachimura’s debut was on November 11, 2016, against Utah Valley. With Gonzaga Bulldogs he played against Mississippi Valley State, South Dakota State, Idaho State, and Duke.
His overall college stats for the 2016 to 2019 season is 102 GP, 39 GS, 19.7 MPG, .579 FG%, 0.316 3P%, 0.746 FT%, 4.4 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.6 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 12.1 PPG.
On June 20, 2019, Rui Hachimura was selected in the 2019 NBA Draft as the No. 9 pick by the Washington Wizards, making him the second Japanese-born player drafted into the NBA after Yasutaka Okayama.

International career
Rui Hachimura is in the Japanese National Team. He has represented Japan at the 2013 FIBA Asia U16 Championship, Albert-Schweitzer Tournament, the 2014 FIBA U17 World, the 2017 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup Championships, etc.
