He later joined the drama society and after graduation from college, he worked in merchant banking and hospital administration. However, after a brief while, he decided to try acting, joined evening acting classes, and eventually decided to pursue a career as an actor.

Steve Toussaint’s debut screen role was in the TV Mini-Series The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes (1994) as Steve Dixie. This was followed by minor appearances in the films Judge Dredd (1995), Circus (2000), Dog Eat Dog (2001), Shooting Dogs (2005), Mutant Chronicles (2008), etc. 

During his time, he also worked in the episodes of the TV series The Knock (1994-2000), The Bill (1994-2005), Crucial Tales (1996), Jack of Hearts (1999), Holby City (1999-2009), Doctors (2002-2010), Family Affairs (2004), My Dad's the Prime Minister (2004), Broken News (2005), CSI: Miami (2007-2008), among others.

Finally his role as Seso in the episodes of the 2010 film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in which he gained undivided attention.
