Storm Reid was born in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on July 1, 2003. Her mother’s name is Robyn Simpson Reid and her father’s name is Rodney Reid. Her parents raised her alongside her three older siblings- brother Josh Reid, and sisters Iman Reid and Paris Reid. As she aspired to become an actress, she along with her family moved to Los Angeles when she was 9 years old.

At the age of 17, Storm Reid graduated from high school. She joined the University of Southern California in the fall of 2021.

Her first work was in a commercial at the age of three. Reid then appeared in two short films The Girls of Summer (2012), The Spirit Game (2013), and a TV movie A Cross to Bear (2012), before landing the role of Emily in the 2013 film 12 Years a Slave. This was followed by minor roles in the TV series The Thundermans (2013), Adam Devine's House Party (2013), NCIS: Los Angeles (2014), Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn (2014), Chicago P.D. (2015), and in the TV movies Twang (2013), White Water (2015), etc.

Storm Reid eventually began to land roles in films such as The Summoning (2015), Sleight (2016), Lea to the Rescue (2016), Santa's Boot Camp (2016), A Happening of Monumental Proportions (2017). Finally, she landed the role of Meg in the 2018 film A Wrinkle in Time which was her breakthrough in her career.
