Tika Sumpter is an actress, model, and TV host by profession and American by nationality. Since beginning her career hosting Best Friend's Date, she has starred in One Life to Live, Stomp the Yard: Homecoming, Sonic the Hedgehog, Gossip Girl, and The Game.

Tika Sumpter’s birth took place on June 20, 1980, in Queens, New York, USA. She was born Euphemia LatiQue Sumpter to her mother Janice Acquista and her father Arthur Curtis Sumpter, Sr. She is not the only child of her parents and has a sibling, a sister named Chauna Sumpter.

For education, Tika Sumpter attended Longwood Senior High School where she was the first cheerleader of African-American ethnicity. After graduation, she went on to study at Marymount Manhattan College where she majored in communications.

Tika Sumpter has been dating The Haves and the Have Nots co-star, Nicholas James (birth name Nicholas J. Muscarella). 

With her boyfriend, she welcomed daughter Ella-Loren on October 8, 2016. The couple announced their engagement on 25 Dec 2016 and are yet to marry. They tied the knot on May 14, 2022. She often features her husband on her social media page. 

Sumpter had been married to Hosea Chanchez in 2009. Their marriage ended in divorce in 2012.

Tika Sumpter – Career

Early Career

While trying out for auditions, Tika Sumpter worked as a waitress. Along with her modeling career, she appeared in commercials for Hewlett-Packard and Liz Claiborne's Curve fragrances. Finally, in 2004 she was selected to co-host the N network series Best Friend's Date. 

Finally, in 2005, Sumpter landed her breakthrough role as Layla Williamson in One Life to Live.

Since landing her breakthrough role, Tika Sumpter has had appearances in Gossip Girl (2011), The Game (2011-2012), The Haves and the Have Nots (2013-present), and Mixed-ish (2019-present) as Alicia, among others.

She has also starred in films Stomp the Yard: Homecoming (2010), A Madea Christmas (2013), Get On Up (2014), Southside with You (2016), The Old Man & the Gun (2018), Sonic the Hedgehog (2020).
