Tyler Oakley’s birth took place on March 22, 1989, in Jackson, Michigan, USA. He was born Mathew Tyler Oakley to his mother Jackie Oakley but the name of his father is kept private. His parents divorced when he was still a toddler.

Oakley has 12 siblings including sisters, step-sisters, step-brothers, half-brothers, and in-laws.

After graduating from high school, he went on to attend Michigan State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communication, marketing, and social media.

However, Oakley had not shared that he was homosexual with his father, who was a pastor. When he came out to his father, his father offered to send him to therapy to treat his ‘illness’. For more than 10 years, his relationship with his father was strained. 

Currently, Tyler Oakley has revealed that his father has accepted his sexuality and their relationship has been mended.

Tyler Oakley is currently in a relationship with Anthony Russo. The social media influencer claimed that he had met his boyfriend in mid-2018 on the dating app Bumble. He is yet to marry and take a husband.

Although Oakley has been open with most aspects of his life, he is a private person when it comes to romantic relationships.

Oakley joined YouTube on September 18, 2007. His YouTube channel was Tyler Oakley when he was a freshman at Michigan State University. After more than 13 years of dedication and hard work, Tyler Oakley has around 7.41 million subscribers on his YouTube channel and has around 595 videos.

In March 2013 he started to co-host Top That for PopSugar with Becca Frucht. He has also worked with Korey Kuhl, his college friend in his podcast Psycho-Babble. Moreover, Tyler Oakley has appeared in Insider Tonight, Smosh (2005), Escape the Night (2016), The Amazing Race and YouTube show Escape the Night with Joey Graceffa, among others.

His book Binge was released in 2015.
