Vivian Nixon is a professional dancer, actress, and an American by nationality. Daughter of former NBA star Norm Nixon and Debbie Allen, a dancer, and producer, she is well known for appearing in Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Hannah Brody.

Vivian Nixon’s birth took place on May 30, 1984, in Miami, Florida, USA. Her birth name is Vivian Nichole Nixon and she was born to father Norm Nixon, former NBA player, and mother Debbie Allen, dancer/choreographer/producer/director/actress. She was raised by her parents alongside her sibling, younger brother Norm E. Nixon, who is also a basketball player. She also has a half-brother, DeVaughn Walter Nixon, from her father’s previous relationship.
Emmy Award-nominated actress Phylicia Rashad is her aunt.

In the wake of a fellow gymnast’s serious injury after a fall, her mother took her out of gymnastics. Vivian Nixon, who was 13 at the time, took up dancing. She studied at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C.
But during her third year there her teacher looked at her and said “you never be a dancer. You go out Alvin Ailey”. Alvin Ailey is a contemporary American dance company. So her father pulled her out of the and her mother started Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA), “a non-profit organization committed to expanding the reach of dance & theater arts for young people.”
Vivian Nixon then studied at DADA. She also went to Ailey/Fordham for a BFA in Dance.

Nixon is currently in a relationship with her longtime boyfriend/partner Jazzton Williams. The couple welcomed daughter Shiloh Elizabeth Williams on February 7th, 2019. They got engaged on June 28, 2020, after he popped the question with a tear-shaped diamond ring. They were reportedly taking their time to plan their wedding.
They welcomed their second child, daughter Aviah Williams in 2021. Nixon and Williams eventually married on July 31, 2022.

While in her final year at Ailey/Fordham, Nixon was cast as Kalinda in the Broadway production of Hot Feet (2006). She was eventually named one of the top "25 to Watch" by Dance Magazine in 2007. Her regional theatre credits include the plays West Side Story as Anita, Bayou Legend as Sara, Pearl as Pearl, Soul Possessed, Dreams, Brothers of the Knight, The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker, etc.
