Willie Aames’ birth took place on July 15, 1960, in Newport Beach, California, USA. He was born Albert William Upton to father James Tweedy Upton and mother Eva Jean Upton.
He is not the only child of his parents and has an older sister named Kim Upton. His other siblings included older brothers Jimmy Tweedy Upton and Ronald Walker Upton.

With his wife, he has a daughter Harleigh Jean Upton, born on 21 July 1990. After 23 years of blissfulness, the marriage ended in divorce in 2009.
Currently, Willie Aames is married to Winnie Hung, having tied the knot on 21 March 2014. Hung was his fan and pen pal for thirty years and had finally met in Vancouver after Aames had written to her.

Aames began acting in the late 1960s as a child actor, having landed his first commercial at the age of 7. His first appearances were in the shows Gunsmoke, The Wonderful World of Disney, Adam-12, and The Courtship of Eddie's Father.
This was followed by roles in the TV series The Odd Couple as Leonard Unger, The Waltons, in the miniseries Benjamin Franklin, Swiss Family Robinson, etc.
Finally, in 1974 Willie Aames was cast as Tommy Bradford in the comedy-drama series Eight Is Enough, in which he starred from 1977 to 1981.

In his adult years, Aames has portrayed characters in Dungeons & Dragons (1983-1985), Charles in Charge (1984-1990), Bibleman (1995-2003), and as himself in MacMillan River Adventures (2007), Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp (2005, 2008), among others.
In recent films Willie Aames has been involved in the Hallmark channel and has played in the Hallmark movies Harvest Moon (2015), Dater's Handbook (2016), Every Christmas Has A Story (2016), and Love on the Menu (2019).
