Who is Wyatt Russell?

Wyatt Russell is an actor, former ice hockey player by profession, and American by nationality. He is well known for starring in the films The Woman in the Window, Overlord, Everybody Wants Some!!, TV series The Walking Dead: The Oath, and Lodge 49.

Wyatt Russell – Age, Parents, Siblings

Wyatt Russell’s birth took place on July 10, 1986, in Los Angeles, California, USA. He was born Wyatt Hawn Russell to his mother Goldie Hawn, a Golden Globe, and his Academy Award-winning actor Kurt Russell, who is also a famous Hollywood actor. His grandfather is Bing Russell, an actor as well as a Class A minor-league baseball owner.

Although he is the only child of his parents, he has three half-siblings- older half-brothers Oliver Hudson, Boston Russell, and older half-sister Kate Hudson.

Education, Ethnicity

Following high school graduation, Wyatt Russell went on to attend the University of Alabama where he played NCAA hockey for the Chargers. He graduated from the same in 2007. 

His ethnicity includes English, German, Scottish, Ashkenazi Jewish, and Irish.

Wyatt Russell – Girlfriend, Wife, Children, Divorce

Wyatt Russell married his longtime girlfriend Sanne Hamers, a stylist on March 14, 2012. They had first met in the Netherlands while playing hockey and had been dating for two years before finally tying the knot. However, they separated on March 2, 2015, and divorced on October 24, 2017.

Russell began dating Meredith Hagner, also an actress, in 2016. The couple had first met on the set of Folk Hero & Funny Guy. They married on September 2, 2019, in Aspen, Colorado, having purchased a 1930s Spanish home in Sherman Oaks, California. In November 2020 they announced they were pregnant with their first child. They welcomed their first child together- son Buddy Prine Russell in March 2021.

Currently, he and his wife are living a blissful marriage without rumors of extra-marital affairs and divorce.

Wyatt Russell – Career

Early Days

Growing up Russell played for numerous amateur and pro hockey teams as a goaltender. He had moved to Canada to pursue a career in ice hockey. Some include Richmond Sockeyes, Langley Hornets, Coquitlam Express, Chicago Steel, Brampton Capitals, and Groningen Grizzlies. 

However, his career in hockey was cut short after suffering injuries. So like his parents, he also ventured into acting.

He began working as an actor in 1996 alongside his father. His earliest roles were minor roles in the films Escape from L.A. (1996), Soldier (1998), The Last Supper (2006), etc.

Over the years Wyatt Russell has starred in over a dozen TV series as well as Films. The films in which he has portrayed roles include Cowboys & Aliens (2011), Love and Honor (2013), 22 Jump Street (2014), Everybody Wants Some!! (2016), Shimmer Lake (2017), Blaze (2018), Overlord (2018), and The Woman in the Window (2020). 

He has also had guest appearances in the TV series Law & Order: LA (2010), The Walking Dead: The Oath (2013), Black Mirror (2016), The Good Lord Bird (2020), The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2020) and a recurring role in comedy-drama Lodge 49 (2018-2019).
