Xavier Samuel’s birth occurred on 10 December 1983 in Hamilton, Victoria, Australia. His mother’s name is Maree Samuel and his father's name is Clifford Samuel. 

His parents raised him in Adelaide, South Australia alongside his two siblings- older sister Bridget Samuel (born 1981) and younger brother Benedict Samuel (born 1988). His brother is now a writer, producer, and actor while his sister is a stage manager.

For education Xavier Samuel attended Rostrevor College, graduating in 2001, but undertook final year drama at Christian Brothers College. He went on to study at Flinders University Drama Centre in 2005.

Xavier Samuel – Career

Early Days

Samuel portrayed the character in school plays. He played the part of Tom Snout (the wall) in Rostrevor College's production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Hamlet in the graduate production at Flinders University Drama Centre. He also was a member of the Adelaide band, Hyatus, and had left it to pursue a career in film.

Some of the early roles in which he has portrayed include in the theatre production of Two Weeks with the Queen (2006), Osama the Hero (2006), Mercury Fur (2007), and in the films September (2007), The Loved Ones (2009), Newcastle (2008).  Xavier Samuel gained international attention after he was cast as Riley Biers in the 2010 film The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Films, TV Series

Over the years Samuel has starred in the films Road Train (2010), Anonymous (2011), Drift (2013), Frankenstein (2015), The Death and Life of Otto Bloom (2016), Elvis (2021), Tell Me Your Secrets, and in the TV series Seven Types of Ambiguity (2017).

He portrayed Konstantin in the 2014 South Australian State Theatre’s play The Seagull (2014).
