Drew Barrymore donates $10K to Oregon fire chief who lost home in wildfires
Actress Drew Barrymore gave out the Oregon fire chief who lost her home while battling the wildfires $10,000. She shocked the firefighter was in tears on her new show, The Drew Barrymore Show.
Barrymore, 45, left Chief Christiana Rainbow Plews, 50, holding her hands to her face as she presented the Upper McKenzie Rural Fire Chief with the check.
“I know it’s not enough but just a little start to say that you are an inspiration to us all,” Barrymore told Plews, “Thank you Chief Rainbow for being the example to us all.”
Plews, who revealed that her community is completely devastated, lost her home while leading volunteers battling the Holiday Farm Fire. “Blue River is completely gone,” she told Barrymore “Not only all the homes, but all the businesses, including our fire station.”
When asked how she remained strong, Plews told the Charlie's Angels actress, “Somebody has to do it. Somebody has to lead and somebody has to help get the healing and rebuilding process started. I am the chief and I am in the position to impact that, so I just have to be strong. I just have to do it for everyone else and hopefully, we can all find our way.”
