Gypsy Rose Blanchard deletes social media – doesn’t want to get in trouble
American author and activist Gypsy Rose Blanchard has taken off social media!
The convicted felon-turned-influencer’s parole officer expressed concern that Blanchard’s social media activity might land her back in prison.
Blanchard, 32, told People “at the advisement of her parole officer, so she won’t get in trouble and go back to jail.”
She had served eight years in prison for murdering her mother Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard in 2015 at her Springfield, Montana home.
Gypsy deleted her public Instagram page with 7.8 million followers and since has settled for a private account with a miniscule following.
She explained her decision via TikTok, which has now been detailed, “I do my best to live my authentic life and what’s real to me, and what’s not real is social media. Social media is literally a doorway to hell. It’s so crazy. I can’t even wrap my head around what social media is.”
Blanchard, who has published the book Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, further explained, “People you can actually hug. And with the public scrutiny as bad as it is, I just don’t want to live my life under a microscope. So, I created my private Instagram. And I got it verified. And I had no trouble or doubts of deleting that public one.”
The ex-convict, then 24, convinced her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to stab Dee Dee to death. She planned to escape her mom, who had lied and tricked her as well as her doctors, into believing she had different illnesses.
Before her death, Dee Dee had been making Gypsy Rose Blanchard pass herself off as younger by changing her birthdate to 1995, pretending to be disabled and chronically ill since she was an infant. This subjected her to multiple unnecessary surgeries, and medication and controlled her through physical and psychological abuse.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard was sentenced to 10 years in prison of which she served 8. She was granted parole in September 2023 while her ex-boyfriend Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison.
The former inmate gained a big following after being released from prison. Her court case has been turned into a hit Hulu series Mommy Dead and Dearest.
While serving her time, Blanchard began communicating with Ryan Anderson during the pandemic in 2020. They married just two years later on June 27, 2022.
Despite her release, she is not spared from public scrutiny.
The recently turned social media star clapped back at haters who bashed her husband by bragging about her husband’s package.
She wrote on Instagram, “Ryan, don’t listen to the haters. I love you, and you love me. We do not owe anyone anything. Our family is who matters. … I love you… besides. they [are] jealous because you are rocking my world every night…yeah I said it, the D is fire.”
