Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s murder house now a tourist attraction: neighbors stressed
Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s former neighbors are not happy that the home where her mother was murdered has become a tourist attraction.
Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard was stabbed to death at her home on June 9, 2015.
TMZ reported that residents near the murder house, which is located in Springfield, Montana, have noticed several out-of-state license plates driving through and stopping in the middle of the road to take pictures.
The house has not been painted blue but was previously red. Sources also added that due to the color change, the visitors often ask around the neighborhood if they are at the right house.
Moreover, some residents have “refused to provide details” of the house where horrific incidents occurred since a new mother-daughter duo has been living there.
Another former neighbor of ex-convict turned social media influencer Gypsy Rose Blanchard shared his concerns about people visiting the house with “bad intentions.”
The recent events have been stressful for nearby residents.
Resident Thomas Pengilly also said that he believes the house should have been torn down since so much trauma and pain occurred in that house. He also advised tourists hopeful to visit to “find better things to do.”
Another resident by the name of Sam Baker revealed to TMZ that the most “aggravating” issue is the traffic caused by “unwanted tourism” on the street as children often play outside.
The house was gifted to Blanchard by the non–profit organization Habitat for Humanity which seeks to build affordable housing for people in need of financial assistance due to medical issues.
Blanchard was convicted for the murder of her mom Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard in 2015 at her Springfield, Montana home.
The ex-convict, then 24, convinced her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to stab Dee Dee to death. Her plan was to escape her mom, who had lied and tricked her as well as her doctors, into believing she had different illnesses.
Before her death, Dee Dee had been making Gypsy Rose Blanchard pass herself off as younger by changing her birthdate to 1995, pretending to be disabled and chronically ill since she was an infant. This subjected her to multiple unnecessary surgeries, medication, and controlling her through physical and psychological abuse.
Clauddine suffered from a psychological disorder in which a caretaker fake or causes a child’s sickness – clinically known as Munchausen by proxy syndrome.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard was sentenced to 10 years in prison of which she served 8. She was granted parole in September 2023 while her ex-boyfriend Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison.
While serving her time, Blanchard began communicating with Ryan Anderson during the pandemic in 2020. They married just two years later on June 27, 2022.
After the 2015 murder and subsequent conviction in 2016, it was reported that the Greene County Public Administrator David Yancey had been appointed as the estate’s personal representative.
