It’s the match of the 21^st century! Soccer player Kealia Ohai and American football defensive end J.J. Watt are engaged to be married!

The couple has been dating for the last three years and they have common love- football. Ohai is the captain of Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and Watt is the defensive end for the Houston Texans of the National Football League.

Both J.J. Watt and Kealia Ohai confirmed their engagement on May 27, 2019, via social media.

With a series of engagement pictures, Ohai wrote on Instagram,

“Still can’t believe I get to be with you forever. I love you”

Watt too took to Instagram to share the happy news with a snapshot,

“I’m the luckiest man in the world. #SheSaidYes”

First Meeting

The newly engaged couple first met through Watt’s former Houston Texans teammate Brian Cushing, who is married to Megan, the older sister of Ohai. 

Rumors of them dating first began in early 2016 after Watt was spotted in Dash games and wore shirt no 7, which is Ohai’s jersey number during a press conference!

Going public

J.J. Watt, 30, and Ohai, 27 went public with their relationship in October 2016 when called Watt one of her “great friends” while confirming they were dating. Soon after there were pictures of their 2017 vacation to Mexico. 

He spoke to People in February 2017 about his girlfriend,

“She’s awesome. We just went to Mexico for her birthday and the whole weekend was competition — whether it was ping pong or the weight room. She’s extremely competitive which is a ton of fun. She’s incredible.”

When asked why he had nearly a year to go public about their relationship, he replied,

“There’s a little bit of that cat and mouse game where everyone wants a photo of us and wants us to confirm it. And I was like, all right, I’ll do it so now we can enjoy ourselves and live happily. And it’s been great.”
