Lala Kent, the star of Bravo TV’s Vanderpump Rules confessed about her alcoholism and newfound sobriety in a touching video.

The confession

The 28-year-old reality star revealed to her 1.1 million Instagram followers via Instagram stories on 17^th March 2019 that she is indeed a self-confessed alcoholic.

Kent revealed in the emotional post,

“Five months ago, I came to the realization that I am an alcoholic, and I am now a friend of Bill W., which you will never know how much this program means to me [and] has given me new life. You’ll never know how much this program means to me. When I’m having the roughest day I could possibly have, I can for once see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

2018 revelation

Lala Kent had come clean about her heavy drinking habits with Cosmopolitan in December 2018. She had said,

“I felt like I was falling into a pattern. But I am actually, for real now, completely sober. I’ve never been happier. So I know it’s something I’ll have to deal with on a day-to-day basis, but it’s the right decision for me.”

"Drinking for me was medication instead of celebration. Instead of going and talking to somebody about losing someone extremely important to you, we turn to things to medicate.

I just want to make sure that I put my voice out there to say, reach out to someone, reach out to a grief counselor, partner with someone who can make you feel like you’re not by yourself and going completely insane. Because when you lose someone ... I’ve never had this type of heartache in my whole life, and it’s foreign."

Who is Bill W.?

Bill W., as Lala Kent has talked about is William (Bill) Griffith Wilson, who is the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous.  

A better place

Kent went on to talk about her late father, Kent Burningham, who passed away last year in April. Kent also shared that the program has helped her get through her toughest days. She said,

“I’m so grateful that I have this program and that I can mourn him. The program has allowed me to sit down and remember my dad in a clear frame of mind and remember what he brought to my life ? what he meant to me, what he taught me.”

Finding Love

Lala Kent, who is dating director Randall Emmett and got engaged to him on September 1, 2018, during a birthday trip to Cabo San Lucas. 

Emmett had just proposed to her after finalizing a divorce from actress Ambyr Childers. Speaking of her new fiancé, she gushed,

"He’s my best friend. He takes care of my heart and my soul. That’s important when you’re in a relationship. You have to marry your best friend. What’s better than being able to have sex with your best friend?"
