Kobe Bryant and wife Vanessa never flew together on a helicopter

Although Kobe Bryant preferred to get around via helicopter, his wife Vanessa did not. They had promised to never fly together on a helicopter.

According to People magazine, “He and Vanessa had a deal that they would never fly on a helicopter together.”

Kobe, who was killed in a 26 January crash with her 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven other people is survived by his wife Vanessa Laine Bryant, 37, and their daughters Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and 7-month-old Capri.

In a 2018 interview with Alex Rodriguez, he shared, “I was sitting in traffic and I wound up missing like a school play. I had to figure out a way where I could still train and focus on the craft but still not compromise family time. So that’s when I looked into helicopters, to be able to get down and back in 15 minutes and that’s when it started.”

The former NBA star, 41, and his daughter were on the way to a youth basketball game with pilot Ara Zobayan. Since his retirement a year ago, he had begun to coach his daughter’s basketball team.

In a November interview for Maria Shriver’s Sunday Paper, he proved how much he loves being a father.

“Being a father is the thing I am most proud of in this world; it’s my greatest accomplishment. I’ve learned so much, but perhaps the most profound thing has been the fierce, unconditional love you have for your children when you become a parent. I’m blessed to have had that experience four times now and there’s nothing more powerful in this world.”
