Kristen Stewart opens up about her sexuality
Kristen Stewart says she’s been “cagey” in the past about her sexuality but now has opened up about it.
“The first time I ever dated a girl, I was immediately being asked if I was a lesbian,” Stewart told InStyle magazine. “And it’s like, ‘God, I’m 21 years old.’”
She told the outlet about the media attention she got early in her career., “Not because I felt ashamed of being openly gay but because I didn’t like giving myself to the public, in a way,” she revealed. “It felt like such thievery. This was a period of time when I was sort of cagey.”
“We did everything we could to not be photographed doing things — things that would become not ours. So I think the added pressure of representing a group of people, of representing queerness, wasn’t something I understood.” Kristen Stewart continued.
The 30-year-old actress became an overnight sensation after starring in Twilight followed by a high-profile romance with co-star Robert Pattinson.
In 2012 she was pictured with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders who was married at the time and two decades older. She and Pattinson soon split, reconciled but eventually parted ways in 2013.
Stewart went on to date visual effects producer Alicia Cargile and model Stella Maxwell. She is currently dating screenwriter Dylan Meyer.
Last year she told Howard Stern that she is in love and can’t wait to get married to her girlfriend.
