Michelle Branch files for divorce from Patrick Carney following cheating accusation
Musician Michelle Branch, 39 has filed for divorce from her husband Patrick Carney, 42 after accusing him of infidelity a day prior.
The Grammy Award-winning The Game of Love singer stated irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split in the court documents.
The documents revealed her request for primary custody of their four-year-old son Rhys and 6-month-old daughter Willie. In addition, Branch has also requested the drummer of The Black Keys to pay her legal fees as well as child support.
Michelle Branch and Patrick Carney married in April 2019.
In a since-deleted Twitter post, Branch accused her partner of cheating on her while she was at home with their newborn daughter.
“To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family. The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness,” Branch said in a statement to TMZ.
Earlier that same day, Branch was arrested for domestic violence with her admitting in court documents that she slapped Carney “in the facial area one to two times.”
She was released after posting $1,000 bail but left earlier than her scheduled 12 hours as her daughter is breastfeeding.
This marks the end of the second marriage for Branch as she was married to Teddy Landau from 2004 to 2015 and shares a daughter named Owen, 17.
Carney, on the other hand, has been married two times before. He married Denise Grollmus in 2007 only to divorce in 2009. He went on to date Emily Ward and was married to her from 2012 to 2016.
