Actor Owen Wilson has revealed that his mother Laura Cunningham Wilson, who is an accomplished photographer, was able to find love in later life.

The 53-year-old actor shared the news while appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where he talked about his new film Marry Me starring Jennifer Lopez, Chloe Coleman, Sarah Silverman, and John Bradley.

At the end of the interview, he said that his mother, who is now 82, remarried at the age of 80.

“My mom recently got married at age 80 to a very nice guy. I think that's a very romantic story and the idea that you can find love at any age." Wilson stated. “I think that's a very nice story.”

Laura was previously married to her husband Robert for 54 years, before his death in 2017.

Talking about the upcoming film, Wilson revealed, “I think I’m somewhat romantic. I think I definitely appreciate a romantic story.”

The movie plot sees Kat Valdez (Lopez) and Bastian (Maluma), both music superstars. They have decided on a worldwide audience as their witness and a stage as their altar. However, after Valdez discovers Maluma has been cheating just seconds before saying “I do,” she decides to marry a stranger in the crowd- Charlie (Wilson).

Owen Wilson also told Ellen DeGeneres that he did not know the 28-year-old Maluma before. They were introduced while filming.

Maluma, who is a famous Colombian singer, songwriter, and actor, previously voiced Mariano in the film Encanto and will be portraying the character of Richard in the 2024 film Sing 3.

Speaking of his co-star, Wilson said, “[Maluma's] from Colombia and I guess there was a lot of coverage on the Bogatá newspaper that they showed me that he was going to be in the movie.

Owen Wilson has been wary about doing interviews in the past due to much-unwanted publicity he received after a suicide attempt in August 2007. Since then he has received treatment for depression.
