Priyanka Chopra claims she was asked to leave film set after talks on equal pay

Actress Priyanka Chopra alleges that a movie producer told her she “should leave” his film set if she didn't accept that she will be paid less than her male co-stars.

In an interview with the podcast, Skimm’d from The Couch, the 38-year-old Quantico star claims that the producers told her she could “take the paycheck which was nominal compared” to those of the men in the cast — or take a hike.

“There’s so many other girls who will take this opportunity. And, you know, women in movies are interchangeable,” she claims the producers said.

However, she did decide to stay on the shoot.

“I didn’t do anything about it. I had to work within the system because that’s what we’re told, that, ‘You know if you want this job … this is the only way.'” she said.

Chopra, who transitioned to film after winning the titles of Miss India World and Miss World in 2000, revealed that it took her 15 years to get where she is now.

“It took almost 15 years for me to get to that place where, you know, I could stand my ground. It took hearing the conversations from other women banding together to give me the confidence to stand up for myself.”
