Queen Camilla attended pre-Easter service without King Charles
Queen Camilla completed her royal duties solo as she attended a pre-Easter service.
King Carles was absent during the event as he battled cancer.
The 76-year-old royal consort joined the Royal Maundy Service at Worcester Cathedral in England as 75-year-old King Charles appeared via a prerecorded video message.
Camilla stunned in a long, cream-colored wool coat decorated with two gold and blue flower broaches on its collar. She paired the outfit with suede boots, black leather gloves, coordinating pocketbook, and accessorized with large diamond earrings set in gold.
In the video message, King Charles said, “We need and benefit greatly from those who extend the hand of friendship to us, especially in a time of need.”
Camilla has stepped up to take up her royal duties as her husband takes a back seat to fight the disease.
On February 5, 2024, Charles announced his cancer diagnosis after undergoing surgery for a benign prostate enlargement. The royal did not reveal the type of cancer he is fighting.
Buckingham Palace released a statement at the time, “His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual. His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
Earlier this week, his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton also revealed a cancer diagnosis following a major abdominal surgery in January. They reportedly met to discuss their medical condition before announcing her own diagnosis.
The statement from Kate did put scores of months of speculation about the “missing” Princess of Wales to rest – including a rumored affair between Prince William and Lady Rose Hanbury.
It remains unclear when both King Charles and Princess Kate will return to their royal duties.
