Sophie Turner fails to show up at court - applies to ‘reactivate’ divorce from Joe Jonas
Sophie Turner has filed court documents to request a judge to “reactivate” her and Joe Jonas’ divorce case. The filing comes after failed attempts to settle child custody and property.
According to the court documents submitted by the actress, “the abatement has come to an end and this case is to be re-activated.”
Joe Jonas’ representatives told the news outlet, “The filing was a legal formality, and the couple continues to negotiate an amicable resolution.”
In September 2023, Jonas, 34, filed for divorce from Turner, 28, citing “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” They were married for four years before the shocking filing.
The divorce turned bitter after the Game of Thrones star countersued the Cake by the Ocean singer, claiming he had abducted their daughters by withholding their passports. The lawsuit was filed in New York Federal Court.
Jonas’ rep said at the time, “This is an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending. When language like ‘abduction’ is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst.”
Tuner and Jonas eventually agreed on a temporary child custody agreement in the fall. They had their children Willa, 3, and Delphine, 21 months, fly back and forth between the UK and US for the holiday season.
In October 2023, the former couple said in a joint statement, “After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the UK. We look forward to being great co-parents.”
The X-men actress dropped kidnapping accusations in January 2024 after the US judge approved the dismissal of the lawsuit after both parties signed a consent plan that had been approved by a judge in the UK.
Since the separation, Turner has been dating British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson while the American singer has been romantically linked to model Stormi Bree.
