Ten Stars Who Were Ruined By Alcohol and Drugs
It is widely known what an alcohol or drug addiction can do to people. There are, of course, many other things that can be addictive as well, but not many are as brutal as those two. Gambling, for example, can even be rewarding. Armed with a Berry casino no deposit bonus, players can land impressive winnings.
There are many examples of addicted celebrities which should serve as warnings. We found ten of the most famous stars who suffered at one point from either a drug or an alcohol addiction, and for a few of them, it even ended deadly.
Kurt Cobain
The singer of the rock band “Nirvana” died when he was only 27 years old. Cubain was suffering from depression and also had trouble adapting to his newly earned fame resulting in Nirvana’s success. Subsequently, he turned to drugs, with heroin being his drug of choice. In early 1994 Cubain overdosed and went into a detox facility. Only shortly after, he was found by what police officers determined was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Jim Morrison
Another prominent addiction victim was the lead vocalist of the band “The Doors.” James Douglas Morrison has been struggling with his alcohol addiction for pretty much all of his adult life. In 1971 Jim Morrison was also found dead in an apartment in Paris, France. Just like Cubain, he too was only 27, which led to people talking about the 27 Club. His cause of death is unknown because an autopsy hasn’t been performed.
Amy Winehouse
The British singer Amy Winehouse was more than a celebrity. She was a superstar who won countless titles, including being the first British singer who win five Grammys. Behind the stage, however, Winehouse had a history of addiction, abuse of substances, and even mental illnesses. Sadly, Amy Winehouse drank herself to death. At age 27, her cause of death was determined to be alcohol poisoning.
Jan Ullrich
The former German professional cyclist Jan Ullrich became a national hero as he won the 1997 edition of the Tour de France. He rode during those times when professional cycling was largely doping-infested. It wasn’t, however, the performance-enhancing drugs that almost cost Ullrich his life, it was his addiction to alcohol and Cocaine. In 2017 his wife Sara left him because of his addiction, and he later admitted that he was at the edge of ending up like his former rival, the Italian Marco Pantani, who died of a Cocaine overdose.
Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston was an incredibly successful singer. She was everybody’s darling who sang the national anthem during a Super Bowl halftime show in 1991, and there was hardly a price Houston didn’t win. But there was also another side of the superstar that ultimately cost her her life. Whitney Houston drowned accidentally in a bathtub at the Hilton Hotel Beverly Hills. Her death remains one big mystery even up to today.
Macaulay Culkin
Macaulay Culkin’s story is a particularly sad one. The child superstar became famous with the movies “Home Alone” and “Home Alone in New York”. But glory lasted only that long. He has been an addict to various drugs and even was arrested for drug possession in Oklahoma City. His half-sister Jennifer Damson even overdosed and passed away.
Ben Affleck
The actor Ben Affleck made his heavy alcohol addiction public in 2018 on Instagram. He was also known for being a member of the illegal Los Angeles gambling ring and probably researched the topic how to win in online gambling more than once
Affleck attended a rehab center twice and remains sober for the time being.
Colin Farrell
Colin Farrell is another famous actor who has been in and out of rehab. He admitted publicly to becoming an addict after completing the filming of Miami Vice. He also stated that due to his alcohol and drug addiction, he started suffering from depression. Farrell completed his last rehab program in 2018 and has been sober ever since.
Gerard Butler

David Hasselhoff

Sometimes It Is Better Just to Listen
Some of those people mentioned paid the ultimate price for being an addict. Others got lucky and found help. They all should serve us as an example, however, and we all should listen very carefully when they warn us about the danger of legal and illegal drugs.
