Mary Holland was born on June 24, 1985, in Galax, Virginia, USA. Her mother, Nancy Holland, and her father, Duane Holland, raised her alongside her siblings, a younger sister named Kristin Holland, while the name of her older brother is not known. Her parents were doctors at Twin County Regional Hospital and are now retired to just outside Nashville.

For education, Mary Holland attended Interlochen Center for the Arts (a performing arts boarding school in Upper Michigan) and two years at Galax High School. She went on to study at Northern Illinois University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the same.

Early Days

After graduating from college, Holland began performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. She eventually moved to Los Angeles for more opportunities and worked as a hostess at a restaurant. Her debut TV role was in 6 episodes of the TV series Comedy Bang! Bang!. She worked on the series from 2013 to 2016. 

This was followed by appearances in the TV series Silicon Valley (2014), The Birthday Boys (2014), Parks and Recreation (2015), etc.

Finally, in 2015, Mary Holland was cast as Shelly Tinkle in the sitcom Blunt Talk. She portrayed the character for a total of 19 episodes, from 2015 to 2015. The role gained her wide recognition.
