On the show, Alison Victoria and lead contractor Donovan Eckhardt bought and renovated vintage fixer-uppers in historic Chicago neighborhoods to sell for a profit.

Alison Victoria – Controversy, Legal Issue

In January 2020, a Chicago couple James and Anna Morrissey filed a lawsuit in the Circuit Court of Cook County, citing defective and shoddy work, breach of contract, breach of warranty, and consumer fraud. The $1.36 million home was featured on Windy City Rehab and they were suing to reverse the sale plus $80,000 the Morrisseys said they paid for upgrades and landscaping. The suit named Alison Victoria, Donovan Eckhardt, and contractor Ermin Pajazetovic as defendants along with Eckhardt’s Greymark Development Group, Alison Victoria Interiors Inc., and two other related businesses.

In April 2020 another lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County against Alison Victoria and Donovan Eckhardt and others,  the buyers Shane Jones and Samantha Mostaccio. The lawsuit alleges the garage work was never properly completed, and the work was done without a building permit, leading the city to shut down the site, among other issues. It also asked for a permanent injunction to force HGTV to take Alison Victoria and Donovan Eckhardt off the air.
