Betty Gilpin is an actress by profession and American by nationality. The Primetime Emmy Award Nominated actress is well known for starring in GLOW as Debbie "Liberty Belle" Eagan and in Nurse Jackie as Dr. Carrie Roman.

Betty Gilpin’s birth took place on July 21, 1986, in New York City, USA. She was born as Elizabeth Folan Gilpin to mother Ann McDonough and father Jack Gilpin, who are both actors. 

Jack is notable for starring in the TV series Kate & Allie, Law & Order, and the 2008 film 21 while Ann is known for her role in the 1987 dram/comedy film Moonstruck. 

She is not the only child of her parents and has siblings- brothers Sam Gilpin and Harry Gilpin.

Betty Gilpin is an alumnus of the Washington Montessori School, studying there until she went to The Loomis Chaffee School, graduating in 2004. She then went on to study at Fordham University. There she studied under Dianne Wiest, graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. 

She is of Irish, English, Scottish, German, and Dutch ethnicity.

Gilpin married her longtime boyfriend Cosmo Pfeil, a former actor on August 6, 2016, after years of dating. They had first met while making her first movie The Northern Kingdom where they played on-screen siblings.

She and her husband welcomed their first child, a daughter in November 2020. Currently, the couple is living a blissful married life without rumors of extra-marital affairs and divorce.

Between 2013 and 2015 she portrayed the character, Dr. Carrie Roman, in 34 episodes of Nurse Jackie. This role gave her valid recognition in Hollywood.
