Craig Kilborn’s birth took place as Craig Lawrence Kilborn in Kansas City, Missouri, U.S. He was born on August 24, 1962, to parents Shirley Kilborn, a school teacher, and Hiram Kilborn, an insurance executive. At the age of 4, he moved with his family to Hastings, Minnesota where he grew up with his brother Chris Kilborn.

Growing up, Craig Kilborn was taller than his peers and grew up to 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m). While at school, he was recruited by the basketball team, Northside Magicians at Hastings High School. From there he graduated with three letters, and multiple all-conference, and all-state honors.
After graduation, he enrolled at Montana State University with a scholarship. He graduated from the same in 1984 with a dual bachelor's degree in theater arts and media.

Craig Kilborn welcomed his son Jonathan Kilborn in 1987 with his girlfriend Amber Smith who worked as an actress and model. The couple tied the knot in 1998 but their marriage was short-lived. They divorced in 2002.
He went on to date personal trainer Erin O’Brien and eventually married her. With his wife, he has two children- son Sheppard O’Brien and daughter Malin O’Brien.
Previously, due to a lack of dating information, viewers speculated that he might be gay. Turns out that he loves his privacy and likes to avoid being pushed into the spotlight.

Before fame
Craig Kilborn began his career with CBA. There he worked from 1986 to 1987 as Savannah Spirits' play-by-play radio commentator. He then went on to work at KCB, a Fox affiliate. Finally, in 1993, he landed a job as the SportsCenter anchor for ESPN and he worked there till 1996.
Kilborn returned to the sports channel on August 8, 2004, as a co-host with Dan Patrick at SportsCenter during ESPN's 25th Anniversary Celebration.

Worked in
In 1996, Craig Kilborn was chosen to host The Daily Show on Comedy Central. During his time there, he was named Best Late Night Comedy by TV Guide. His last episode was aired on December 17, 1998, and was replaced by Jon Stewart.
For the next five years from 1999 to 2004, he was the writer and the host of The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, replacing Tom Snyder. Scottish-American comedian Craig Ferguson took over the show on January 3, 2005.
Other shows that he has worked on include The Kilborn File but ran for only a few episodes from June 28, 2010. He has also acted in several films such as Old School (2003), The Shaggy Dog (2006), The Benchwarmers (2006), The Extendables (2014), and The Bronze (2015).
