Craig McLachlan’s birth took place on 1 September 1965 in Long Jetty, New South Wales, Australia. His birth name is Craig Dougall McLachlan and was born to his mother Madeline McLachlan and his father Peter McLachlan. He has a sibling, an older brother named Bruce McLachlan.

Early Career

McLachlan’s early years as an actor were a struggle. He auditioned for TV commercials but was unsuccessful. So he returned home to work as a laborer and a plumber's assistant. 

Craig McLachlan did make his second attempt in the film and TV industry. He eventually landed a guest role in the TV soap opera Sons and Daughters in late 1986. Finally, in 1987 he was cast as Henry Ramsay, a regular role, in the TV series Neighbours. He portrayed the character from 1987 to 1989 which is his breakthrough role.

Over the years McLachlan has starred in numerous films including Mad Bomber in Love (1992), Let's Get Skase (2001), Hating Alison Ashley (2005), Amar a morir (2009), Restoration (2016), Deep Water (2020), among others. He has also appeared in TV films Heroes II: The Return (1991), Catherine the Great (1996), Superfire (2002), 

Moreover, he has worked extensively in TV series. Some are namely Bugs (1995-1997), Always Greener (2001-2001), Packed to the Rafters (2008-2012), Rescue: Special Ops (2011), House Husbands (2013-2014), Deep Water (2016) and main roles in The Doctor Blake Mysteries (2013-2017), The Wrong Girl (2016).

In January 2018, a joint investigation reported that Craig McLachlan had been accused of sexual harassment by several actresses including Christie Whelan Browne, Erika Heynatz, and Angela Scundi He denied the allegations adding the accusations are “utterly and entirely false.”

In February 2018 he filed defamation suits against ABC and Fairfax Media. In April hearing one of his indecent assault charges was dropped by the prosecutor. In April 2020 it was reported that 13 accusations remained while he has long maintained his innocence.
