Damon Herriman's career in acting started when he was just an eight-year-old boy. He began with TV commercials and two years later he was cast as Frank Errol in The Sullivans. This role was considered his breakthrough role as he found work as a child actor thereafter.

He went on to star in The Patchwork Hero, Sara Dane, For the Term of His Natural Life, Taurus Rising, The Flying Doctors, Elly & Jools, The Big Steal, Soar, etc.

Other roles Damon Herriman portrayed are in Love My Way, Laid, 100 Bloody Acres, The Outlaw Michael Howe The Little Death, Son of a Gun, Down Under, and Secret City,  among others.

In the United States, he appeared in the 2004 horror movie House of Wax. After that, Damon Herriman also found regular work in the United States. He appeared in The Unit; Redbelt, Breaking Bad, Wilfred, CSI, The Loop, Cold Case, Vegas, etc.

In 2016, he was nominated for AACTA Awards in the categories Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor (film), and Best Guest/Supporting Actor (TV drama) for his role in The Little Death, Down Under, and Secret City respectively. In the latter one, Damon Herriman won the title.
