Gary Sinise’s birth took place on March 17, 1955, in Blue Island, Illinois, USA. He was born Gary Alan Sinise to his mother Mylles Sinise and his father Robert L. Sinise, a film editor. He is not the only child of his parents and has two siblings- brother Craig Sinise and sister Lori Sinise.

Before Fame
Gary Sinise began his professional career as an actor in 1973. His first roles were in the TV series Knots Landing (1980) and in the film A Wedding (1978), for which he was uncredited. His career began to take off in 1982 with the production of True West, which Sinise had directed as well as acted in.
Along with fellow high-school graduates, he started the Steppenwolf Theater Company which is currently an institution housed in an $8 million theater.
