Who is Geri Halliwell?

Geri Halliwell is a pop singer, songwriter, fashion designer, author, and actress by profession and British by nationality. She is best known as Ginger Spice, a member of the pop group Spice Girls.

Geri Halliwell – Age, Parents, Siblings

Geri Halliwell’s birth took place on 6 August 1972 in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. She was born as Geraldine Estelle Halliwell Hidalgo to parents Ana María Halliwell (née Hidalgo) and late Laurence Francis. Her father was 50 when she was born.

She grew up in North Watford along with two siblings, brother Max Halliwell, sister Natalie Halliwell-Jennings and two half-siblings, brother Paul and sister Karen. Among all the siblings, Geri Halliwell is the youngest one.

For education, she attended Watford Grammar School for Girls and Camden School for Girls.

Her ethnicity includes Spanish, Swedish, and English.

Geri Halliwell – Husband, Marriage, Children, Divorce

Halliwell dated Giovanni Laporta, Jamie Morrison, and Fred Durst from 2003 to 2004. After the breakup, she began a relationship with Sacha Gervasi in 2005. She was pregnant with Gervasi’s child and their daughter Bluebell Madonna Halliwell was born on 14 May 2006.

She was engaged to Fabrizio Politi from 2008 to 2009 but the couple never made it to the altar. In 2012, she was reported to be dating Russell Brand (Aug – Sept) and later Anton Kaszubowski.

In February 2014, Geri Halliwell began dating Christian Horner. They announced their engagement on 11 November 2014. Halliwell giving up her hand partying lifestyle married Horner on 15 May 2015 at St Mary's Church in Woburn, Bedfordshire. The marriage made Halliwell stepmother to Olivia, Horner’s daughter from the previous relationship.

In October 2016, she shared that she was pregnant with their first child together. Their son Montague George Hector Horner was born on 21 January 2017. Since then Halliwell has taken her husband’s name and now is called Geri Horner.

Geri Halliwell – Career

Before fame

Before gaining fame, Geri Halliwell used to work as a nightclub dancer in Majorca. She also worked as a TV host of the Turkish version of Let's Make a Deal. She became more successful as a glamour model and at the age of 19 appeared in The Sun as a Page 3 girl. 

In 1994, Halliwell responded to an advertisement in The Stage magazine. Around 400 women answered the added and Geri Halliwell was among the selected ones. A pop group was formed that included Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown (Mel B), Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham (née Adams), and Halliwell was made.

They were first signed with Heart Management but due to the group's frustration at their management's unwillingness to listen to their ideas, they parted ways with the management.

Worked with?

In March 1995, the group signed with 19 Entertainment and with the label Virgin Records in September 1995. The Spice Girls toured endlessly and on 7 June 1996 they released their debut single Wannable. The song was a massive hit, reaching number one in 37 countries. After a series of hit songs, she left the group on 31 May 1998.

Geri Halliwell went on to pursue a solo career. She released solo albums Schizophonic (1999), Scream If You Wanna Go Faster (2001), and Passion (2005). In 2016, Spice girls members Halliwell, Mel B, and Emma Bunton reunited for the 20th anniversary of the Spice Girls' debut album.

Halliwell’s autobiography If Only was published in 1999 followed by Just for the Record (2002) and the six series of children’s books Ugenia Lavender was published in 2008.

In 2010, Geri Halliwell collaborated with British retailer Next to create Geri by Next, a swimwear collection.
