Originally Jeanne Moos wanted to pursue a career in print journalism. But while a student at Syracuse University, she changed her mind and pursued a career in the television business.
After a few odd jobs, she started working at WPTZ in Plattsburgh as the station's first female correspondent. There she covered stories ranging from local to national including the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, New York.
Jeanne Moos left WPTZ in 1981 to join CNN as a reporter. There she covered numerous stories including political corruption, and the United Nations during the 1991 Gulf War. In the 1990s, she began covering unusual and off-beat soft news stories, and in 1995 began a series of reports called Making The MOOSt Of It.
Currently, she files reports for CNN’s Moost Unusual.

Jeanne Moos – Controversy
After CNN’s segment Man in Thong: Eyes up here, Duchess! Was aired in 2014, it was deemed "insensitive" and "racist" by viewers. In the two-minute video, Jeanne Moos mocked New Zealand Maori culture including their traditional dance, costume, greeting ceremony, and the haka.
She had described The Haka as "a cross between a Chippendale lap dance and the mating dance of an emu." She was forced to apologize in April 20014.
