Early Days

At the start of his career in media, Pope worked as a reporter for the British outlet Ealing Gazette. In 1983 he joined London Weekend Television where he worked as a researcher for The Six O'Clock Show. He went on to work at LWT and was eventually made the Head of Factual Drama before moving to Granada Television and then to ITV with the same job title.

Screenwriter, Producer

Over the course of a career spanning decades, Jeff Pope is known as a screenwriter for Fool's Gold: The Story of the Brink's-Mat Robbery (1992), Essex Boys (2000), Dirty Filthy Love (2004),  Pierrepoint (2005), The Fattest Man in Britain (2009), among others.

As a producer he has been credited for The One That Got Away (1996), This Is Personal: The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper (2000), Northern Lights (2006), Pierrepoint (2005), The Fattest Man in Britain (2009), to name a few.

His screenplay for Stan & Ollie (2018) was a major success and starred Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly.
