Early Days

Jenna Elfman began training in ballet at the age of 5 but later gave it up after a tendon separated from the bone. As a dancer she appeared in music videos for Depeche Mode’s Halo (1990), Anthrax’s Black Lodge (1995), Chris Isaak’s Somebody's Crying (1995), and toured with the rock band ZZ Top in 1994 as a "Legs Girl." She eventually began appearing in television commercials.

Her debut TV role was in an episode of the TV series Murder, She Wrote (1992). This was followed by episode(s) of the TV series The George Carlin Show (1994), Townies (1996), NYPD Blue (1996), The Single Guy (1997), etc. In 1997 she was cast as the main character Dharma Freedom Finkelstein Montgomery in the TV sitcom Dharma & Greg. She portrayed the character for a total of 119 episodes, until 2002. This is considered her breakthrough role.
