Kimiko Glenn was born in Phoenix Arizona on 27th June 1989. Her father Mark Glenn is of German, Scottish and Irish descent while her mother Sumiko Glenn is Japanese.
She has a sibling - an older sister named Amanda Glenn and was raised with her. Speaking of her childhood days and high school, she recalled,
"I was kind of an obnoxious kid. I would imitate Celine Dion. I would jump around and belt to the rafters and do the accent and everything."

Kimiko Glenn graduated from Desert Vista High School and Interlochen Arts Academy. After graduation, she joined Boston Conservatory as a musical theatre major but dropped out after a year as she was cast in the touring company Spring Awakening.

Kimiko Glenn started acting at the Valley Youth Theatre in Phoenix and several other local theaters when she was in 5th grade. Glenn also shared that she loved singing and that her father was the one who introduced her to the theater.
As she continued to pursue acting, in her first year of college in 2008, she was cast in Steven Satar and Duncan Sheik's rock musical Spring Awakening. But once in a while, she did face her fears- being shoehorned into stereotypes,
“At a young age, I learned through acting that I was seen as different. There were so many times that I had…been told that I was the best one for the part, but, look-wise, they couldn’t go with me. I’ve just heard so many times in my lifetime, ‘There’s no market for Asians, that’ll never sell.’ ”
In 2013 she landed her breakthrough role, as Brook Soso in the Netflix comedy-drama series Orange is the New Black alongside Yael Stone, Natasha Lyonne, and Danielle Brooks. She portrayed the role till 2017.
In 2014, she had the opportunity to appear in Jack Antonoff's music video I wanna get better. In 2016, Kimiko Glenn was cast in the drama thriller film Nerve as Liv Kurosawa and as Dawn Williams in broadway's Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson's musical Waitress.
And in 2018, she was cast as Harlow alongside Travis Coles and creator Liza Koshy, Deborah Kaplan, and Harry Elfont on Liza on Demand, an American comedy web television series.
