Who is Laz Alonso?

Laz Alonso, full name Lazaro Alonso, is an actor by profession and American by nationality. He is well known for starring in the films Avatar as Tsu'tey, Fast and Furious, Detroit, and TV series The Boys as Marvin T. Milk / Mother's Milk.

Laz Alonso’s birth took place on March 25, 1974, in Washington, D.C., USA. His full name is Lazaro Alonso and was born to Afro-Cuban parents. His single mother, with the help of his three aunts, and grandparents, raised him. 

Not much is known about his biological father and siblings.

Following graduation from high school, Alonso went on to study at Howard University. He graduated from the same with a BBA in Marketing.

Early Days

Laz Alonso worked for years as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch on Wall Street. Unsatisfied with his work, he joined the entertainment industry as an actor. His debut role was in the 2000 TV movie Disappearing Acts. He went on to portray characters in the TV series Providence (2002), One on One (2003-2004), NCIS (2004), CSI: Miami (2004), Entourage (2005), and films Down to Earth (2001), Constantine (2005).

He landed the role of LCpl Ramon Escobar in the 2005 film Jarhead, which gained him much recognition.

Over the years Laz Alonso has starred in the films Stomp the Yard (2007), This Christmas (2007), Miracle at St. Anna (2008), Fast & Furious (2009), Avatar (2009), Detroit (2017), Wrath of Man (2021), etc.
