Phil Daniels’ birth took place on 25 October 1958 in Islington, London, England as Philip William Daniels. He grew up in King’s Cross, in central London during the 60s. His father worked as a caretaker for a mansion block while his mother worked as an accounts clerk.
He is not the only child of his parents and has two older siblings- one sister 10 years older and another sister five years older.

Daniels’ debut screen role was in the 1972 film Anoop and the Elephant. This was followed by roles in the films The Naked Civil Servant (1975), The Class of Miss MacMichael (1978), and in the TV series, You Must Be Joking! (1974-1975), The Molly Wopsies (1976), 4 Idle Hands (1976), Raven (1977), etc.
Finally, in 1979, Phil Daniels was cast as Jimmy in the film Quadrophenia. This is considered his breakthrough role.

Since then, he has starred in the films Breaking Glass (1980), Meantime (1984), Billy the Kid and the Green Baize Vampire (1985), Still Crazy (1998), Goodbye Charlie Bright (2001), Freebird (2008), Vinyl (2012), among others.
His work is prominent in television, having portrayed characters in the episodes of the TV series I Remember Nelson (1982), The Pickwick Papers (1985), Bad Behaviour (1993), The World of Lee Evans (1995), Holding On (1997), Sex, Chips & Rock n' Roll (TV) (1999), Time Gentlemen Please (2000–2002), A Question of Sport (2006), EastEnders (2006–2008), Rock & Chips (2010–2011), Call the Midwife (2020), House of the Dragon (2022) as Maester Gerardys, etc.
