In the late 1990s, he moved to Los Angeles to transition to TV and films. Since then Russell Hornsby has starred in films Meet the Parents (2000), Big Fat Liar (2002), Something New (2006), LUV (2016), Creed II (2018), etc.
In the TV series, Hornsby has had appearances in Girlfriends (2001), Playmakers (2003), Grey's Anatomy (2005), The Good Wife (2010), Grimm (2011-2017), and Seven Seconds (2018).
