Russell Wilson is an American football quarterback as well as a baseball player and plays for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). On April 15, 2019, he signed a four-year, $140 million contract with the Seahawks which made him the highest-paid player in the NFL.

Russell Wilson’s birth took place on November 29, 1988, in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. He was born Russell Carrington Wilson to parents Harrison Benjamin Wilson III, a lawyer, and Tammy Wilson (née Turner), a legal nurse consultant.
He has siblings too, an older brother named Harrison Wilson IV and a younger sister named Anna Wilson. Russell Wilson came from a family of athletes and started playing football with his father at the age of five.
His paternal grandfather Harrison B. Wilson Jr. played football and basketball, his brother played football and baseball and his sister plays basketball.

For education, he attended Collegiate School, where he played football and was even featured in Sports Illustrated magazine for his performance in the state championship game.
On July 23, 2006, Wilson joined North Carolina State University and played for the college team. He then transferred to the University of Wisconsin in 2011. He also received a Duke University scholarship offer.

Russell Wilson was married to his first wife, Ashton Meem from 14 January 2012 to April 2014. He had met his then-girlfriend in high school and were high school sweethearts. They did not have any children together.
After the divorce, Wilson went on to date American R&B singer Ciara in early 2015. After around a year of the relationship, the couple got engaged, which was announced on March 11, 2016. Russell Wilson married his fiancé on July 6, 2016, at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England.
Together he and his wife have welcomed a daughter named Sienna Princess Wilson. She was born on April 28, 2017. In July 2020 they welcomed their son Win Harrison Wilson. His marriage to Ciara made him a stepfather to Ciara’s son Future Zahir Wilburn.

Russell Wilson before fame
Wilson played for NC State from the 2007 to 2010 season. In January 2011, Wilson announced his transfer to Colorado Rockies but he failed to receive an invitation to the 2011 NFL Scouting Combine.
On April 29, 2011, it was announced that Wilson had been granted a release from his football scholarship with one year of eligibility remaining. In the 2011 and 2012 seasons, he played for Wisconsin.

The same year in 2012, he started his professional career. He began training for NFL Scouting Combine but due to his height, he was not picked for the first couple of rounds. Finally, on April 27, 2012, Wilson was selected by the Seattle Seahawks as the 12th pick in the third round of the NFL draft.
The same year, he tied Peyton Manning's record for most passing touchdowns by a rookie and was also named Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year.
On April 16, 2019, he signed a four-year, $140 million contract extension with Seattle Seahawks, making him the highest-paid player in NFL. He will be playing for the Seahawks through the 2023 season.

Russell Wilson career in baseball
He is also a baseball player and was selected by Baltimore Orioles with the fifth pick in the 41st round of the 2007 MLB draft. Wilson was a member of the NC State Wolfpack baseball team from 2008–2010 and was drafted by Colorado Rockies in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB draft 2010.
In December 2013, he was signed by Texas Rangers and traded to the New York Yankees on February 7, 2018.
