Sasha Alexander’s birth took place on May 17, 1973, in Los Angeles, California, USA. She was born Suzana Drobnjakovic to her mother Dobrila Pavlovich while the identity of her father who died of cancer in 2007 is not known. She is not the only child of her parents and has a sibling, brother Alexander Drobnjakovic.

Following high school graduation, Sasha Alexander was educated at the University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television and was a member of the sorority Kappa Alpha Theta. She also studied at  London's Royal Shakespeare Company.

Sasha Alexander married her boyfriend Luka Pecel on September 18, 1999, but the marriage was later annulled. She went on to date Alasdair King in 2004 and Spencer Smith.

On August 11, 2007, she married director Edoardo Ponti in Geneva, Switzerland. With her husband, she has two children – daughter Lucia Sofia Ponti (born in 2006) and son Leonardo Fortunato Ponti (born in 2010). Currently, the couple is living a blissful marriage without rumors of extra-marital affairs and divorce.

Early Days

Alexander’s interest in acting started while still a student in seventh grade and continued acting through high school and college. She had moved to New York to act in summer stock and Shakespeare festivals. 

Her debut role was in the 1997 film Visceral Matter as Karen Chambers followed by roles in the film Twin Falls Idaho (1999), and TV series Wasteland (1999) as Jesse Presser. Finally, in 2000 she was cast as Gretchen Witter in season 4 of Dawson's Creek. Through the role, she achieved widespread media attention, and is her breakthrough role.

Over the course of her career spanning over two decades, Sasha Alexander has starred in dozens of movies and TV series. She has had appearances in the movies Mission: Impossible III (2006), Yes Man (2008), He's Just Not That Into You (2009), Bernard and Huey (2017), and Dangerous Lies (2020). 

Alexander’s work is much more prominent in TV series. She is well known for starring in Presidio Med (2002), NCIS (2003-2005; 2012-2015), Rizzoli & Isles (2010-2016), Shameless (2015-2016), Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons (2020), among others.
