Scooter Gennett is a baseball player by profession and American by nationality. He is currently the second baseman for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB) and had played for Milwaukee Brewers.

Scooter Gennett’s birth took place on May 1, 1990, in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. He was born Ryan Joseph Gennett to father Joe Gennett and mother Tina Gennett. His father was a scout with the Astros. He is not the only child of his parents and has a sibling, a sister named Kristen LaRoche.

How Scooter Gennett got his nickname?
Gennett got the nickname Scooter at a young age with an incident with the police. As a child, he removed his seatbelt while traveling in the car which angered his mother. So she took him to a police station to attempt to scare him into keeping the seatbelt on.
When the policeman asked his name, he replied Scooter. His mother then asked him 'Where did you come up with that?' to which he had replied 'The Muppets'. The show Muppet Babies has a character Scooter and Gennett has been using the name ever since.

Gennett married his longtime girlfriend Kelsey on April 9, 2015, in a cave where there used to be a brewery. They had first met while students at their high school and had begun dating in 2007. They had gotten engaged over Thanksgiving in 2014 and got married on April 9, 2015.
He and his wife welcomed a child, a son named Calvin Gennett in early 2022. The couple is living happily without any rumors of extra-marital affairs or divorce.

Scooter Gennett – Career
Scooter Gennett began his professional career in 2009. In the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round. For the 2012 All-Star Futures Game, he played for Milwaukee Brewers.
His major league debut was in 2013 against Oakland Athletics. On December 3, 2016, he and the Brewers signed a one-year, $2.525 million contract for 2017.
But on March 28, 2017, Scooter Gennett was claimed off of waivers by the Cincinnati Reds. On June 6, 2017, he hit a career-high, record-tying four home runs including a grand slam, making him the 17th player in MLB history and first in Reds history to hit four home runs in a game.
And on August 14, 2017, Gennett hit his 20th home run of the year’s season. Batting .326 with 14 home runs and 58 RBIs, he was named to the 2018 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and finished the season with 23 home runs, 92 RBIs, and a .310.
Aside from baseball, he was nominated for the Roberto Clemente Award for his work with the campaign K Poverty which aims to end poverty in the Dominican Republic.
