Skovbye began her career at the age of seven after being spotted by an agent at the Children's Festival in Vancouver. After a series of auditions, she finally landed the role of 10-year-old Jane on the drama series Painkiller Jane (2007). She began modeling for various designers and campaigns at the age of 13, having been signed by an international modeling agency.

This was followed by roles in the films Girl in Progress (2012), and A Christmas Story 2 (2012), and guest appearances in the TV series Supernatural (2008, 2013), R. L. Stine's The Haunting Hour (2010, 2013), Wingin' It (2012), Spooksville (2013), etc.
