Actor Norman Reedus suffers a concussion while filming ‘The Walking Dead’

Last Modified: 9th Sep

The Walking Dead alum Norman Reedus is recovering after suffering a head injury on the set of the post-apocalyptic series The Walking Dead.

Reedus’ publicist Jeffrey Chassen confirmed, “Norman suffered a concussion on set. He is recovering well and will return to work soon. Thank you to everyone for their concern.”

A source also confirmed that the incident took place on March 11 in Georgia where AMC is filming the final season of the long-running series.

It is unclear how the 53-year-old was injured but it is known that he went to the hospital on Friday and is still in Georgia.

“He’s resting and recuperating,” the insider said, noting that he will be back to work in a few days which will ultimately result in a few delays for the series. “We can confirm it will push series wrap by a few days,” a rep for AMC revealed.

On the day of the accident, Reedus had taken to Instagram to promote his debut novel Ravaged. “Wrote a book,” he had written alongside a slide of pictures promoting his book, which is set to be released on April 5.

He is yet to resume his presence on social media since then.

Norman Reedus portrays the character of Daryl Dixon, a zombie outbreak survivor in The Walking Dead. He has been playing the role since season 1.

This is the final season of the show, which stars Christian Serratos, Josh McDermitt, Seth Gilliam, Cailey Fleming, Michael James Shaw, and the rest of The Walking Dead cast.

This show, however, won't be the end of Reedus’ appearance in the franchise. He and fellow cast Melissa McBride are expected to star in the spin-off show, reprising their roles. Reedus is also speculated to play the lead role in the reboot of Ghost Rider.

Other spin-off series have also been launched such as Fear The Walking Dead and Walking Dead: World Beyond with cross-over episodes between the two.
