Ashanti tests positive for COVID-19, musical showdown canceled

Singer Ashanti has revealed via Instagram that she has COVID-19. She also added that her Apple Music Verzuz musical showdown which had been scheduled at 5 p.m. Pacific time on Saturday has been canceled.

“Hey y’all, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I tested positive for COVID-19,” she began the post, “I’m ok and not in any pain. I’m actually down to do the versus from my house … we’re trying to figure it all out!!!”

The 40-year-old R&B artist was then told by Cole, 39 that it was okay to skip the event and to take care of herself.

The event has been rescheduled for Jan. 9, 2021.
